If you're familiar with high school sports, the top sports teams often schedule out-of-state matchups with other top teams from around the country. This was the case when California's Sierra Canyon Trailblazers (ranked # 65 nationally) paid a visit to Arizona powerhouse Saguaro Sabercats (ranked #7 in the state).
This matchup came to fruition because of the relationship between Saguaro head coach Jason Mohns and Sierra Canyon head coach Jon Ellinghouse. The two head coaches coached together in the All-American game two years ago and Ellinghouse was on Mohns’ US Under 19 National Team staff.
