Black History Month

22m
On this edition of Locally Louisiana, YurView recognizes Black History Month by honoring South Louisiana's civil rights pioneers. You'll hear from Dr. Leona Tate, who helped integrate New Orleans public schools in 1960. The very school she attended is now a cultural center that is opening hearts and minds in the Lower 9th Ward. We'll also meet the driving force behind Lafayette's "Maison Freetown," which is keeping Creole history and tradition alive in a way that must be seen to be believed.
