The Salute to Teachers annual event, which began in 1990 and is televised by Cox Communications as a public “thank you” to local educators, celebrates the county’s 24,000-plus public-school teachers. Supporting local education is an important part of the legacy left behind by Cox Communications’ founder James M. Cox, who was a teacher early in his career.

“As a former teacher, our founder strongly believed in supporting local education, and it’s a commitment our company continues to make in our community,” said Ingo Hentschel, senior vice president and region manager for Cox Communications. “Cox is proud to partner with the San Diego County Office of Education once again to celebrate San Diego County’s public-school teachers and recognize their unwavering commitment to their students.”
